The Uni in Brooklyn, NY, 2011.

On Sunday, Sep. 18, we’ll collaborate with the Brooklyn Public Library to create a reading room for children on Borough Hall Plaza at the Brooklyn Book Festival. We’ll be testing our rapid deployment skills once again, this time with a new form being finalized right now at MIT. The Brooklyn Public Library will add BPL books to the Uni which can be browsed on-site and checked out by BPL patrons. Sunday, Sep. 18, 2011 10AM-6PM. Borough Hall Plaza, Brooklyn. Look for us next to the Main Stage at Court and Remsen Sts.

Our first two installations, first in Lower Manhattan and now in Brooklyn, coming directly on the heels of our Kickstarter funding, speak to the speed and intensity of the team, especially at MIT and HY Architecture. Our volunteer librarians are keen to bring the Uni even deeper into New York’s neighborhoods—we’ll keep you posted as we begin that exciting work.

UPDATE: photos from Brooklyn below. Thank you Linda Johnson, BPL President, Richard Reyes-Gavilan, Central Library Director, and all the the BPL staff and Uni volunteers for making this possible.
