Our Kickstarter drive is underway, and things are going great. Today, being our first weekday, we began ramping up the outreach, making connections with like-minded individuals, blogs, and sites. It’s terrific to be connecting with new friends and old friends on Kickstarter, Twitter, and even on the old-fashioned phone.

Over the next 27 days, we’ll be spending most of our time over at Kickstarter, where we’ve begun a series of video updates, which you can follow here. We’re pretty well synced up so you can follow our updates however you like, via Twitter, Facebook, or right here at this blog. All links below.

Please help us spread the word. If you feel moved to, please donate via Kickstarter. Even small amounts ($5, $10, $25) help build community around the Uni and really do propel the fundraising forward. Here are the links again, and thanks!

We are building a portable, open-air reading room for public space. The Uni launches in New York, Fall 2011.

We're getting a "new" name... Street Lab.

The Uni Project is the work of Street Lab, a nonprofit launched in 2006 in Boston, where we created community-oriented programs for public space. In 2011, we migrated Street Lab to New York City and launched the Uni Project. The Uni began as a single, portable reading room and has since grown into a city-wide initiative offering more than 700 days of pop-up programming in 150+ public spaces across the city. In 2019, we are re-introducing our original name Street Lab to tie all this work together going forward, with much more to come.

For now, details about our programs are available here on the Uni Project web site. Soon, that content will move to www.streetlab.org. Thanks for sticking with us!
