On Saturday, Dec 3, 2011, the Uni will make an appearance at the one and only Biblioball! Learn more about Biblioball 2011 (benefits Literacy for Incarcerated Teens) and the remarkable DeskSet, a group of New York City area librarians, archivists, bibliophiles who raise money for institutions who promote literacy. Buy tickets to the Ball here.

In support of Biblioball, we’ll be installing a mini-tower of Uni cubes at the festivities (indoors at the Bell House, Brooklyn, NY), and we’ll offer an origami station for creating corsages for your gowns and suits. If you donate a book for public space to the Uni at the Ball, you’ll also receive a complimentary Biblioball raffle ticket.

It is rumored that these librarians stay at the Ball until 3AM. I will be standing by the Uni with a thermos of coffee. Looking forward to seeing many of you there.

We're getting a "new" name... Street Lab.

The Uni Project is the work of Street Lab, a nonprofit launched in 2006 in Boston, where we created community-oriented programs for public space. In 2011, we migrated Street Lab to New York City and launched the Uni Project. The Uni began as a single, portable reading room and has since grown into a city-wide initiative offering more than 700 days of pop-up programming in 150+ public spaces across the city. In 2019, we are re-introducing our original name Street Lab to tie all this work together going forward, with much more to come.

For now, details about our programs are available here on the Uni Project web site. Soon, that content will move to www.streetlab.org. Thanks for sticking with us!
