The Uni has just been covered in this very thorough article in Places Journal surveying the recent wave of “little libraries” and tactical urbanism.

Quoted in the article, Sam cites Project for Public Spaces’ “lighter, quicker, cheaper” principle as part of our inspiration for the Uni after the Storefront Library. The piece also quotes Richard Reyes-Gavilan, Director and Chief Librarian at the Brooklyn Public Library, on our partnership to bring the Uni to Borough Hall Plaza in Brooklyn in 2011 and how the BPL is “looking to get more nimble.” We aim to help him do that in the years ahead.

We appreciate how the article, by Shannon Mattern of The New School, captures characteristics that we think make the Uni stand out, including a focus on community and institutional partnerships, and a dedication to doing this work over the long haul. Cheers.
