The Uni is up and running after the storm took out power, water, and heat in our lower Manhattan office for a week. Here’s West Broadway from our window during the blackout and after the lights came back:

This Saturday, the Uni will join relief efforts at a community event on Corona Plaza from 12PM-4PM. We’ll be there with our host the Queens Museum of Art to offer a place for the community to gather and read. Come visit, and also bring new or gently-used children’s books to donate to those affected by the storm. The Uni Project is helping to collect books for the Children’s Book Relief, organized by Urban Librarians Unite. You can also contact Leslie at the Uni Project to coordinate other donation drop-off options.

The forecast for Saturday is for a warm, clear day. Join us, and help fellow New Yorkers get back on their feet. (Update: on Sunday, we’ll also head to Red Hook, Brooklyn a community hard hit by the storm, and still lacking power and water, details here.)
