We love what NYC Dept. of Transportation has been doing to create pedestrian plazas with local communities. On Saturday, we went to back to one of our favorites – Corona Plaza under the 7 train, in Queens. This was our 6th time setting up in this newly pedestrianized space, and again our host was the Queens Museum of Art. QMA staff brought their own activities geared towards families and children, and joined us to lead read-alouds using some of our new books.

Thanks to QMA staff member Alexandra Maria Garcia, for inviting us and coordinating read-alouds, and to Uni volunteers Leigh, Stephanie, and Will. Thanks also to Uni installer Nelson, and Amelia, who is working with us for the summer from MIT. Great day in Corona!

Before we began using tents, we relied on parasols, purchased just down the street in Corona. We brought them out again!

Look closely, this is not a book. It’s a math puzzle using pickles and jars.
