As part of a run of ten Play Street deployments in partnership with Transportation Alternatives, the Uni returned for a second time to Lyman Place in the Bronx. There are fewer children passing through Lyman Place compared to some of our other locations, but we noted that folks stay much longer at this Play Street. And maybe depend on it more. We applaud Transportation Alternative’s dedication to supporting smaller and emerging Play Streets across the city. Thanks to Emily Jacobson and Amelia Carver on the ground. Here are the photos:

Here’s how we get things rolling: sit down and start reading with early arrivals.

Uni volunteer Emily Jacobson, who also works for NYPL, has been instrumental in the success of our Play Street effort.

Math puzzles were a hit at Lyman Place, on both of our visits.

Thank you to Emily Jacobson, Amelia Carver (not in photo), and this deputized librarian who helped us with the benches. See you next year!

Here’s a video of Emily and Leslie demonstrating the packing up of the new Uni cart designed for us by HY Architecture. We’re road-testing this prototype and plan to start building several more carts soon.
