Uni Governors IslandOur original Uni reading room tower holds a special place in our hearts. Designed by friends at HY Architecture, funded by 250 people on Kickstarter, launched on Sep. 11, 2011 in Lower Manhattan, we still use it to create reading rooms across the city today.

After spending the summer on Governors Island with Brooklyn Public Library, the tower headed to Brooklyn Children’s Museum to create a science reading room. Yesterday, Leslie and I brought it uptown to Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling in Harlem, which is gearing up to open in 2015. For the time being, the tower is in the Sugar Hill Museum Pre-School, serving kids until the new gallery space is ready. Perfect solution.shm_200x100

Thanks to these excellent NYC institutions for partnering with us so that our beloved tower can work year round. Stay tuned for more news from Sugar Hill.[hr]

The Sugar Hill Museum has affordable housing above and a pre-school on the first floor. Outstanding.
