On Saturday, the Uni Project went to midtown Manhattan to set up an outdoor reading room at a remarkable new temporary plaza called Plaza33 next to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. With the Empire State Building as a backdrop, we put the act of learning on a big NYC stage, giving people from all walks of life a chance to read and draw together. Thanks to our wonderful host and sponsor Plaza33. Thanks also to The Municipal Art Society of New York, which curated a wonderful shelf of books about Penn Station and local features. Finally, thanks to our volunteers for the day—Amy, Erik, and Katy from Wolff Olins, and upper school students from Avenues: The World School. We’ll back the next two Saturdays!
