Irving10_200In August 2014, we deployed the Uni reading room to Irving Street in Brooklyn, one of the city’s oldest continuously running play streets. Learn more about our ongoing effort at play streets. Our participation was made possible by a generous grant from Shippy Foundation and additional support from Target. At the end of our Aug 8 visit, we rolled the Uni by hand along the sidewalk to a second location, Putnam Triangle Plaza. More reading, less trucking. Pop-up logistics are a strength (and obsession) of the Uni Project.

On this day, the city didn’t enforce the usual no parking rule, so the closed-off street was crowded with parked cars.
No matter, we all made a play street happen anyway.

Packing up the Uni and preparing for a rolling exit. Putnam Triangle Plaza is a few blocks away, and we’ve got another deployment scheduled there in an hour.
